Fall Outfit Essentials

FALL.  HAS.  ARRIVED.

Summer, we are sad to see you go.. but bring on the crispy fall air and pumpkin errthang – we’re ready! Another great thing about fall is (yet another) excuse to shop. *insert purple smiley emoji with horns here* As it gets chillier, we start to think about sweater weather, cute boots, and layers and all that as we head towards winter. (Ew, winter. Why did I even bring that up?) Anyways, new season, new styles. Since.. you know, last fall’s stuff is so last fall. Been there, worn that.

No matter your budget, whether you’re looking to go nuts and reinvent your entire closet based on this year’s trends or just wanting to grab a few essentials to spruce up that fall outfit selection and get on-point this season as easily as possible, listen up! This is for both of you. All ya’ll need to focus in on the following:

1. A new chic hat, duh.

Your fall wardrobe is nowhere near complete if you do not own at least one in-season hat. Toss the floppy summer hats aside, those don’t count. This fall is all about wide-brim hats (or you know, normal brim hats), fedoras, and/or boater hats. (Whichever looks best on you).

I recommend taking a truly honest friend with you when you go shopping. Most people convince themselves that hats look stupid on them, and that’s why they never buy them. If your honest friend tells you it looks good, just trust her. I would go for a neutral color like black or tan. Since it will go with more outfits, it’s a safe choice. But if that rust colored hat speaks to you – grab it! Because those are even more of a statement piece.

2. A statement bag, fa’sho.

The major colors of fall 2015 (for clothes and accessories alike) are marsala and olive. Luckily these two colors can match pretty much any neutral (perfect for me, considering I don’t own many colors), but it also provides a great opportunity to just buy one staple piece and boom!

Another major trend is le fringe. It comes in all forms (skirts, jackets, tops, I think I even saw a shawl somewhere.. all fringe) – but again, a bag is a great way to mix a trend into your wardrobe on the reg. Want to take it one step higher? Go for a fringe backpack (like below), trends hitting you from all angles on that one.

3. And then …drumroll please… BOOTS!!!

I don’t care how many I already own, I don’t want to hear it. There’s always a new style each season. Like, can we please talk about thigh high boots? They were cool before, but now they are HOT. They’re literally flying off the shelves, too. I should know.. every time I find a pair where I’ve already whipped my credit card out.. I come to find my size is sold out. Word of advice.. get yours before everyone jumps on the bandwagon and snatches ’em from under you.

Of course we still want some trusty ankle boots that are on trend. And if you have two eyes and a computer mouse, you already know there’s nothing trendier right now than fringe. Why not put two and two together?
