High Fashion Active-wear: How Gym Attire Became Street Attire

Have you ever wanted to be super comfy, but super stylish at the same time? Well the day has come, ladies and gents! Athletic wear is no longer restricted to just the gym, but it is now extremely fashionable and trendy, thanks to the help of some celebs, such as the Kardashians and RiRi. Remember that huge Champions crewneck your mom bought you from Walmart when you were little? Dig it out and pair it with some ripped jean shorts and pumps and you’re ready for fashion week.

Whether you wear a simple logo tee, a matching set, or a sporty pair of sneakers, your look will be effortlessly chic.

These classic logo tees are perfect for summer and can be worn by every style type known to mankind. Sporty chic? Logo tee. Fashion week? Logo tee. 80’s vibes? Logo tee. They’re so simple that committing a fashion crime is impossible. Pair this top with ripped jeans and strappy heels, a printed skirt and pastel sneakers, or flowy trousers and a blazer and you are ready for the runway.

No longer are they something you simply throw on when leaving the gym, but athletic sweatshirts are the newest statement piece. Pair thigh-high heels with a three-sizes-too-big crewneck and you’re instantly high fashion or concert ready (i.e. Perrie Edwards)! If you’re going for a more sophisticated look, a bright sweatshirt with dark bottoms and shoes is the way to go. Leather accent pieces are an unexpected, but perfect twist to this simple piece, so don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and into the wild side.

These may seem a little intimidating at first, considering you’re still scarred from the painful memories of your elementary/high school gym uniform (or is that just me?). But don’t fear! With the help of some celebs, we now know how to pull off this sometimes frumpy look. Because of their comfortability, joggers are the perfect pants to run errands in, spend long days at the airport in, or to go shopping in. To give them a stylish spin, wear a bright pair of joggers with a simple crop top and colorful sunnies (thanks for the inspo, Selena!). We can’t forget button up pants! They’ll hug your curves in all the right places, which can make this look super sexy when worn with a lace top, stacked chokers, and leather stilettos.

Matching Tracksuits

Wearing matching tops and bottoms are so easy you don’t even need to think about what to wear! Matching sets are perfect for everything from lounging around the house to jet-setting across the globe to the hottest new vacation spots (hello Italia!). Not only are they comfortable, but brands such as Champion, Puma, and Adidas have made them extremely flattering on pretty much every body type. But don’t feel restricted to wear the same color head to toe (although the Kardashian-Jenner clan looks amaze in maroon, amiright?!). Feel free to mix and match colors, and even brands.

The original black and white Adidas Superstars helped pave the way for this trend. Their simplicity and neutrality have made them compatible with everything. Literally everything. New styles of this shoe, such as baby blue and metallic gold stripes, have helped make these shoes an easy-to-wear statement piece. Superstars aren’t the only sneakers to become fashionable. Thanks to Rihanna’s help, Puma has released some of the hottest new shoes on the market, like the Fenty Creepers or the Bow Trinomic Sneakers, which can put an edgy vibe on a classy look in seconds. But don’t forget the slides!! These can be paired with everything from a bikini on the beach to a silk dress for the club.

Don’t be scared to step out of your comfort zone with brands like Fila, Adidas, Puma, and Champion! Mixing and matching brands, colors, materials, and styles is super easy with the versatility of these pieces. After all, at one point they were solely worn for sweating out that greasy pizza from the night before, and now they’re the star of every fashion week.
