~ Vintage, coordinated & eccentric. ~

Your position at AKIRA

Director of Inventory Processing and Logistics, Warehouse Manager.

Your AKIRA style picks…

I’m loving all these two-piece sets!

Two-Piece Sets

and this catsuit.

One wardrobe must have…

My Diptyque Colognes; they go with everything!

If you could steal anyone’s wardrobe whose would it be?

Debbie Reynolds’ – if her collection were still intact – or Liberace!

Where do you draw your style inspo from?

I’m usually inspired by colors when I’m shopping.  Also, the shapes and textiles of the ‘60s and 70’s are heavily featured in my closet.

What’s playing at your desk right now?

I’ve got two playlists that I cannot get enough of right now:

1960’s Cambodian Soul music.

“Roisin Murphy” Spotify radio.

But,  I do love me some good ole Judy Garland!

One essential you never leave the house without…

Sparkling mineral water.  Gotta stay hydrated!

Never eat pizza again or never drink coffee again?

Wow, what a mean question.  I guess, coffee.

If Hollywood made a movie about you, which actor would play you?

Kylie Jenner. Lol. That would ensure people would go see it!

What’s your fav spot or thing to do in Chicago?

I love going to the Garfield Park Conservatory, it always recharges my soul.  Also, working in my garden.

What three things would you take on a desert island?

A spoon, bib and elastic waist pants.  Oh wait, that says DESERT, not dessert.

You just got two tickets to anywhere in the world, where are you going?

I would love to see India or Egypt, but I don’t know that the gays are well received there… So, I guess Paris, so I can eat my weight in cheese, wine and pastries.

If you could take credit for any piece of art, book, song or film, what would it be?

The “Happy Birthday” song.  It makes everyone feel special!

What did you study in college?

I went to a community college in Michigan for Machine Tool Technology, then I moved to Chicago to attend AI for Fashion Design.

If you knew the world was ending in 2017, what would you do differently?

Maybe quit my job and move to a farm or a cabin in the woods.

What’s your #1 turnoff?

One of my biggest pet peeves is burnt out lightbulbs.  I also cannot stand when pedestrians pick flowers from my garden.

You’re on death row, what would your last meal be?

Epoisses cheese, prime rib, potatoes dauphinoise, butterflake rolls,  macaroons and my mom’s lemon meringue pie.

What’s one goal you’ve set for yourself this year?

I’ve been wanting to set up a sewing studio in our basement since we moved into our house three years ago.  Hopefully it’ll happen this year!

Tell us the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Moving to Chicago with $200 to my name was pretty crazy.

If you could master one skill right now that you don’t have, what would it be?

I’m a pretty avid gardener, but I would love to take the Master Gardener course to really hone my knowledge and skills.

What’s #1 on your bucket list?

I love kids, I want to be a father some day.

Something you’re going to do this year that you’ve never done before?

My fiance, Travis, and I are  getting married this October. Does that count? Lol.

Name one thing that should be removed from the face of the earth…

Where do you (ideally) see yourself in 5 years?

Ideally?  Living in a mansion with a full staff, relaxing on a velvet tufted chaise while eating bon-bons.
